MTPE (Machine Translation with Human Post Editing) is the process of translating documents using AI and having them reviewed by human translators to bring the quality to a decent level.

This service is used in the translation industry to provide fast & cost-effective translation services.

The MTPE process undergoes the following phases:

1. Preparing the documents for translation

This includes ensuring the document is in an editable format, organizing the text layout, and cleaning up any ambiguities or inconsistencies that might confuse the translation algorithm.

2. Machine Translation

Once the source documents are prepared, the text is then integrated into the machine tool.

3. Post-Editing

This phase involves human translators to revise the content. There are 2 types of editing processes available:

Light Editing: the text is brought to a decent quality by correcting grammatical mistakes, punctuation and other major mistakes, making the text understandable by the audience.

Full-editing: This process not only addresses errors but also refines style, tone, and consistency to meet publication standards. It also ensures the use of correct terminology and adjusting syntax to align with the target language.

4. Quality Assurance (QA)

We use built-in QA checks to identify major errors, mistakes and inconsistencies.

Human Review: our native professional linguists will bring the documents as close as possible to natural readability.

Review Against Quality Metrics: Translations are assessed using metrics such as TAUS DQF or LISA QA for accuracy and fluency.

Client Feedback integration: incorporate client feedback into the translation memory and use it in future projects.

Agency Note:

MTPE is an alternative to human translation for clients who are looking for a fast and cost-effective solution and it could be a great option for clients with large volumes or general contents.

The quality of machine-generated translations can vary significantly without human intervention, ranging from minor inaccuracies to severe misunderstandings, particularly in sensitive contexts such as medicine or law, reason for which we do not recommend this avenue.

Furthermore, machine translation can never grasp context, cultural nuances and natural flow of human translators and therefore quality will never be as good as provided by professional human translators at a native level.

Once we have all your project details available, we can guide you through this process and determine on whether your project can be successful using MTPE or not.
